I think the last thing Kevin deserves is an apology Fred.

This shows someone can come in here, step on you, get away with it (he wasn't banned) and still get an apology from YOU.

WTF???

Let me remind you Kevin is a little underaged brat that has clearly dodged his way through life's horrors by being one himself behind his computer.

By apologizing to him, you are basically prolonguing his dickhead behavior and demonstrating in the future he can once again fuck with an older, physically capable and mentally superior man and still GET AWAY WITH IT.

-TL

It's called being an adult TL... And it doesn't give him ANY right to fuck with me in the future.

I am just unbelievably happy that mister Steve Gainer signed up here and is part of this discussion.

I want you to know, kind sir, you have a fan for life in me, no matter what you shoot. I'm watching.

And anyway, going from War Zone to Disney kid stuff must have been a bit jarring. Way to cleanse the creative palate.

I just think for doing that, Fred is the BIGGER and BETTER MAN in this situation. It's something I would have done BUTTTTT, I also happen to think that everything Fred said to him before was valid. I woulda done the same thing just because.

I can just keep my cool dude. People talk shit to me allll the time at work, and I'm nice all the time. I'm not gonna strike somebody because he's talking shit. They're just words. If you don't know me THAT well, then your words don't mean shit to me. People even spit at me and I don't do nothing. That's just me. I won't go that far unless somebody hits or tries to hit me. Then you do what you gotta do. This is all talk over the internet. Like you've said a million times before, these fuckers would never talk shit to your face like they do here. I don't think these guys would go THAT far face to face. That's what makes this different.

Yeah but at my club, we're not "allowed" to hit people anymore. If we do, we get in trouble with the cops too...... and if there's a lawsuit, my bar doesn't cover us. There's a lawsuit with one of my best friends who works with me there. He joked some drunk asshole out back in November of last year and the guy kept trying to hit him and when my buddy threw him out the door he passed out and fell on his face and broke his nose and lost some teeth. Now he's trying to sue my friend. This guy's got a record a mile long and my buddies is clean but he still has to pay $210 an hour to speak with a lawyer and my asshole boss won't help cover him. Only thing we can do is restrain people/choke them out which is what I do all the time. If the guy hadn't fell on his face, nothing woulda happened. Not to mention, the guy knows somebody on the inside and this is why shit like this is happening. I got into bouncing cause I need the money, not the trouble.

I may not be a little guy, but I'd rather let the little fish go and catch the big fish later. I can understand where you come from Tommy seeing as how you been through a lot but you know how I am.

Oh no.

Don't give me the adult speech now Broseph.

EVERYTHING you called Kevin was PERFECTLY valid.

He deserved it.

He had it coming.

If anybody here needs to apologize its Kevin, NOT YOU.

If you're trying to be diplomatic, you're comin off a bit spineless man.

-TL

I guess I could threaten to beat him up on the internet. That would show how brave and what a big man I am. You also give Kevin too much credit for doing ANY damage to me.

Not that important man. Guy cares about the Punisher...is slightly misguided...and pretty damned harmless.

If a guy walks into my house, calls me a pussy and walks out in one piece I've DONE A GOOD THING. I have a wife and a kid who don't need me in prison because I defended my worthless manpride. I have a future film career...a job...and countless other things that I won't throw away to show how tough I am.

Guy walks into my house and tries to hurt my family...that's a different story. Chalk ain't going to be able to cut an outline on that one my friend.

I really hope you don't think that you answer insult with violence TL. If so I hope they have internet in prison so you can keep in touch. We'd miss you.

Here's another one you'll love...and most likely disagree with, but it's the difference between wisdom and well...

My martial arts instructor would ask us:

"What's the best defense against a knife when you are unarmed?"

The answer, "Run."

"What's the best defense against a knife when you have a knife?"

"Run."

"What do you do on the street when a guy holds you up for your wallet?"

"HAND IT TO HIM."

NEVER put your life on the line for things that aren't important. Wallets and their contents can be replaced. As can stereos, TVs, cars. That's why we carry insurance. If you have to beat a guy up to prove how tough you are, you're probably...deep down...a giant pussy.

You see TL, I KNOW that I could kill at least 75% of the people I meet pretty quickly. If I have to throw down with you in a boxing match, I may be in trouble, but that ain't how I intend to fight. When I go, I go for real and for keeps. KNOWING that...keeps my powder dry. Keeps me confident. Makes me not have to puff the chest out.

Feel a bit silly talking about this on an online forum...but this is the road we are walking down.

Now when I thought YOU were slamming my acting career TL, THAT bothered me. Believe it or not, I've come to respect your opinion...for the most part. Didn't make me want to beat your ass...or try to. :P Just say some hurtful shit.

Kevin, if he hangs around, might earn my respect...not that he needs it OR wants it, or that it's that special for anyone to have. Him posting Steve's info on the Truth page showed the ability to reason...not be immune to information. I appreciate that.

Anyway...enough of this shit for now...I feel all Yoda right now.

Here's the October 2007 Warzone script review by IESB.

The script reviewed was titled The Punisher: Warzone by Lexi Alexander and it is the SHOOTING script as pre-pro began that month.

"Look, I’d like to be real fair here but really this production is doomed before it evens get started, lack-luster cast, what kind of budget do they have? I really have to wonder if Robert Rodriguez had a bigger budget on El Mariachi (He didn't).

So I know what you are thinking, an actor is only as good as his director and script, right? Well, I can't judge the lovely director Lexi Alexander on her directing skills just yet but we sure can judge what she put on paper...

The film opens with a manly montage as an unrevealed Frank Castle (Ray Stevenson) assembles a mean stockpile of weapons. Behind him the exposition blaring-backstory giving TV reports that crime Boss Gaitano Cesare is free again following a mistrial.

Of course, later that night, we go to the Cesare Mansion where a big party is going on. There are mobs and mobs of bad guys there (if you know what I mean and I think you do), including Billy Russo (Dominic West), Nicky Donatelli, Pittsy (Marc Camacho) and Ink (Keram Malicki Sanchez), who go meet up with Cesare. He's got some very important exposition about upcoming plot points that he needs to discuss involving an important pick up from the docks from Transylvanian Cristu Bulat (David Vadim) involving live cargo. ("Transylvanian Live Cargo" WOW it could be anything from werewolves and vampires to werewolf hookers and vampire hookers. I can't wait to see what's in the box.)

New York's finest (I'm presuming here) Detective Saffioti (Tony Calabretta) and Detective Martin Soap (Dash Mihok) are observing all of this, parked a good distance away from the festivities. It's a good distance because it allows all the next bit of ultraviolence to occur and they're too far away to notice anything is wrong or do anything about it.

As you might have guessed, The Punisher crashes the party leaving a massive body count and forgetting to tip the wait-staff. He kills 15 people in 2 ½ pages and then does this THING WITH A CHAIR that I swear is more like FLASHDANCE with a thousand rounds of ammunition a minute body count than anything I've seen an ex-Marine/Navy Seal/Special Forces/Black Ops guy do.

Surprisingly enough Russo, Donatelli, Pittsy, and Ink who weren't in the main room for the massacre, live through the experience and go to a glass recycling plant (Please recycle-it's good for the bottle and it's good for the can) where FBI Agents are also tracking our gruesome foursome.

There's some plot followed by shooting a' plenty at the plant. Billy's run in with Frank in the glass recycler machine turns his previously good looking mook mug into face tartar.

Billy then changes his name to JIGSAW and newspaper tycoon mistress Susan Alexander (Dorothy Comingore) spends the rest of the movie trying to figure him out.

*Back to the gun battle, The Punisher then kills Nicky and discovers Nicky was an Undercover FBI Agent. To quote Hellboy: "Oh Crap!" And this is where the script for Warzone went from bad to insufferable. Castle is racked by guilt and remorse. He goes to the Fed's funeral, hiding in the same grove of trees every single funeral stalker since the beginning of Motion Picture History has hid in, and discovers the Fed had a family - a beautiful wife Angela (Julie Benz) and an adorable daughter Grace.

In the interest of full disclosure, I must tell you the biggest laugh I got from the script didn't actually come between pages 1 and 101. When I told fellow IESB correspondent/Film Geek Mike D. that I was reading The Punisher: Warzone, he asked me: "How big of a piece of dog shit is it?" I replied - "It's as bad as you think it is."

The problem I have with Warzone is I don't buy his big regret trip. Okay, so the Fed had a family, just like Frank used to, but so what? This is a guy who just killed over and over again at The Cesare Mansion and never considered if any of his targets had families. Now the argument can be made that since Nicky was a good guy, Castle's anguish is logical, but it's only because it's written in the script, that Castle discovers Nicky's wire.

Nowhere before or after his accidentally uncovering the undercover cop does The Punisher give a shit before or after he shoots someone. So I didn't give a shit about him.

Warzone’s story beats had previously been beaten into the ground and the one plot point I was actually interested in was never resolved or explained. The live cargo from Transylvania? It turned out to be Red Herrings.

Unfortunately, Warzone doesn't even succeed on the level of an audience friendly revenge picture. The gangsters are completely unlikable at the best with no ties to Frank's pathos-filled past.

The script plods along exactly as single-minded as its title character, hitting all the targets in the shooting gallery of generic story ideas one after another.

On the bright side, reading the script gave me plenty of time to think. For example, with all the guys shooting at The Punisher why do they never shoot anywhere but directly into Frank's Kevlar Skulled chest? Didn't anyone think to disarm him of his guns and by that I mean his arms? Or, how amazing is it that the dreadlock gangster and his Irish hoods turn out to be "Free Runners", you know, like that guy on the girders in Casino Royale? I also started wondering if "Free Running" stunts are going to be like the cheesy Bladder make up effects in the 80's (Altered States, The Howling) really cool at first and then done over and over again to the point of sheer audience boredom?

The Punisher: Warzone rates 4 (Dolph Lundgren's 1989 Punisher film) out of a possible 10 (Thomas Jane's 2004 Punisher film)."

I have and that's about right, any changes were just minor (the death by lobster, some additional dialouge, Budiansky). The movie coming pretty much looks to be the script that's been making the rounds, minus whatever bits they decide to edit out.

Also, the live cargo stuff just turns out to be a biological weapons McGuffin (and a complete fucking waste, they could have easily set up for a Slavers movie).

To be fair, the folks here have been understandably concerned about recent reports. They are reacting to that, just as I would have to assume that SHH, Newsarama, etc . . . are reacting. Luckily we have the benefit of having Steve Gainer give us some truth from his perspective. For sure there are folks who expect the movie to be crud, but that's the nature of any forum where opinions are shared. I think if you look back you will find many who share your hope and love for Warzone. Most people are simply tired of the argument, either side. They just want to see the movie.

I 100% agree.

Link, please, Thomas. I can't locate that review on IESB. I'm fairly certain that the script reviewed is the one dated 27 June, 2007 by Lexi Alexander, clearly called a first draft, and not even called Punisher War Zone at that point. I have that script, and it ties in with the review, which only proves to me, if it needed proving and it doesn't, that the review you provided is NOT the shooting script. It is missing many characters we know are in the final film, as is that review.

Listen, it pretty much looks to be the same. The blokes who helped write Iron Man did a punch up of it, but that was it a punch up. They added Budiansky, but that was just a name change, nothing too big, no real dialouge should have changed from waht was written as Luke McDonald.

Here's the review.

That's the Lexi Alexander first draft! Everybody who wants it has that script. How can you say there have been so few changes? Have ANY of you SEEN this film? I don't think so. Yet you persist in opining in the negative on a film whose script you have NOT even read. You say "Listen, it PRETTY MUCH LOOKS TO BE THE SAME." WTF is that about??? My cousin pretty much looks like my brother, but he's NOT my brother, he's my cousin. Doh!

I know most of you guys are VERY bright. So I just don't understand how you can justify intellectually ANY opinions on this film, least of all the dogmatic positions some of you have taken.

I'm HOPEFUL for this film. I WANT it to be good. I think all the sign are there that it MAY be terrific. But even *I* don't say that it's a certainty. So how is it YOU all are so certain?

It looks very close to the script. That's how I can justify my opinion. I do hope that the dialouge was made less cheesy and cliched, I really do. But, the story it does nothing for me, and again watching all the trailers it looks very close to what I read. Also, shooting supposedly started on October 22 that's a little over 2 months (not to mention the writers strike was just starting up too) so if there was such a massive script overhaul, then I wouldn't be to recognize many of the scenes in the trailers.

Also, I don't think much of Alexander as a director. Johnny Flynton is alright, but I think Green Street Hooligans has some bad performances in it and a kinda dumb story.

Re PWZ, if seeing 90 seconds of teasers/trailers is enough for you to form an opinion of how close a shooting script (which you have NOT seen) is to a first draft (which was re-written by SEVERAL writers), then your powers of discrimination need a bit of honing, pardon me for saying so.

Re Johnny Flynton, The Motion Picture Academy apparently didn't agree with you, judging Johnny Flynton to be more than "all right."

So what, plenty of movies get nominated for Oscars and I think are crap and probably plenty of other people think the movies that are picked aren't good. I thought it was alright, some how you think because I'm not popping a boner for it I hated it, I didn't I thought Dash Mihok was pretty good in it.

As for the writers all Marcum and Holloway did (apparently) was one pass at the script and that was it. Also, the writers strike started on November 5, right at the beginning of the production, so unlike say the new Terminator Salvation movie where rewrites are being written on set, Punisher War Zone didn't have that ability.

I could spout off all the shit that's in the trailers and script, butI don't have energy and it would be so disjointed.

Also, just to clarify the one thing I have been positive about regarding this movie has been cast. I even got into a 2 page fucking fight defending how good an actor Dash Mihok is with TL and Raffi.

So how is it YOU all are so certain?

Well, we're really talking about what we like and what we don't like when we say if a movie will be good or bad.

know what I'm sayin?
