  1. RIP Patrick. This one's for you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGxZbUIM_Og...feature=related
  2. I think he wrote a good review, but I don't agree with all his views. About characters in movies, I don't like to over-analyze. Either I like them, or I don't. I think Perlman and Janes characters worked great in this flick. It's interesting that he's using a picture of a zombie cult flick as his avatar (Zombi 2). Awesome zombie movie directed by an italian guy. Anyway, I feel Mutant Chronicles is a great cult flick, but not in the same way as f.ex. Zombi 2. Mutant is extremely well made and in my opinion is a unique sci-fi flick. I felt it was a breath of fresh air to watch. While Zombi 2 isn't well made, but it's got some awesome gory scenes that you won't soon forget. But some of the best things about Mutant Chronicles ain't our heroes, but it's the boneblade mutants! I mean.. you really have no chance against them, and at least they don't turn you into one by biting you, but by feeding you to a machine! I hope the movie gets a sequel with a ton of $$$ available. It's just as good as Pitch Black imo, but I don't feel Hunter has the same status as the Riddick character, yet. Blu Ray version is awesome btw.
  3. Really cool site! I appreciate the fact that we can download all the pics from it! And the custom dvd covers, well.. I actually think these "custom" covers look alot better than the official cover I've seen laying about. But I guess that means I can just pick my fav "custom" one, print it, and then change it with the one on the Sony DVD one. Looking forward to October 6th! And even more. More movies from RAW. Hell yeah.
  4. My brother ordered MC 1 disc, 2-disc and blu-ray from amazon about 3 working days ago. And it arrived today. *Thumbs up amazon!*
  5. There are some spoilers here, but you will know when they come. With Cage, I always try to focus on the positive, not the bunch of OKs and maybe 6-7 stinkers he has (just my opinion of course) (Fire Birds, Zandalee, Windtalkers, Ghost Rider, Next, Bangkok Dangerous.) Cage is the man. I dug him when I was a kid after the action trilogy. But as time passed and more and more "turkeys" came along, my interest cooled. I think after watching Lord Of War and The Weather Man, my interest got back again. But it's not until I saw The Wicker Man that I got full force back as a fan. I mean, the movie wasn't good, and it states the fact that Cage is a funny guy, and should never do horror. But it was so enjoyable watching and it became an instant cult flick for me. Over to his darkest film (which I think must be 8mm,). It's such a great thriller and basically is a stripped down Punisher movie, it really chokes me up at parts. I wouldn't trade anyone for Cage in it. It also has Peter Stormare with a crossbow and Chris Bauer (he played Dubov in Face/Off with TJ and Cage!) with a gimp mask! Back to my renewed interest. I was checking imdb, and there were so many movies before Leaving Las Vegas I hadn't seen. So this spring/summer, me and my brother have watched all the Cage movies we could find (50+). Like some Jane movies, he too has some that are almost impossible to find. I actually find alot of similarities with TJ and Cage, in the sense of picking parts that are wacked/intriguing, although not so much in recent years for Cage. Nicolas Cage excels in tormented/asshole roles. One of the movies I was really not looking forward too watching was Time To Kill (Tempo di uccidere) from 89. But it took me by a surprise. Warning, Spoilers: ------------ He plays a lieutenant during the war, who is stationed in Africa. There he rapes a girl and injures her by an accident and have to execute her. But soon realize she was a leper... I mean.. come on. This is a film that any moviegeek with some self respect and a slight interest for Nic Cage should see. I think it's got Cage at his best. Some (maybe) "unknown" Cage movies I'd recommend: I don't see Raising Arizona and Wild At Heart as unknown btw. 1: Vampire's Kiss (Nic Cage & Jennifer Beals) One of the best Cage movies, hands down. It is a must watch. Black comedy. 2: Time To Kill (Nic Cage & Giancarlo Giannini) Great story. 3: Birdy (Nic Cage & Matthew Modine) Drama. Modine plays really well in this one. 4: The Boy In Blue (Nic Cage & Christopher Plummer) Sports/Drama. A fit Cage aged 20. It was shot in 84, but released in 86. 5: Trapped In Paradise (Nic Cage, Jon Lovitz and Dana Carvey) Best Cage comedy except The Wicker Man.lols. 6: Red Rock West (Nic Cage & Lara Flynn Boyle) Film Noir. 7: Amos & Andrew (Nic Cage and Samuel L. Jackson) Comedy. I thought this one was really funny. It could have been a South Park episode really. 8: Racing With The Moon (Sean Penn & Nic Cage) Drama. Penn is of course the lead. But I think Cage steals the show in every scene he's in. And I think he's got at least 15 really good movies after those. So all in all there are more greats, than ok's and stinkers. Knowing was one of the last ones in my Cage marathon, and one that I saved because I had heard so many positive things about. But being a box-office success doesn't make movies great. I was a bit disappointed in it to be honest. I thought Cage played ok. Much better than Jim Carrey in one of his serious roles at least. The thing that annoyed me some, SPOILERS: was a woman in the movie going bananas taking the kid... That was it though. The ending was good. I liked the ending for Indy 4 as well. It must be that I was a huge fan of X-files and extra terrestrials in general as a kid. But nowadays kids obviously think stuff like that are a bit lame. I also read that this movie was shot with a Red One camera? Which would really shock me, because I thought it looked like film all along. Looking forward to seeing Cage in another asshole role in Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans this fall/winter!
  6. Yay. Shoot em' Up was very much a parody movie, like Hot Shots, Scary Movie. Imo. I think it was well made. And if the dude is making a remake of Outland with, quote: "We're staying true to the thematic heart of 'Outland' while expanding the space frontier concept." Then I think nothing but good will come out of it. More sci-fi's !
  7. RIP John Hughes! It's impossible for me to name an absolute favorite movie of his...
  8. the Mutant Chronicles soundtrack arrived yesterday, and after a few listens I must say I'm very impressed. It reminds me of a hybrid of something Hanz Zimmer, John Williams and Danny Elfman would have made. I think Richard should be able to get lots of film work after this one. The music is actually too good for a sci-fi/horror B-movie flick. It makes the whole thing epic. Anyway. For my European friends, I ordered the soundtrack from Play.com Yay.
  9. I. Am. Psyched!! Pitch Black was awesome, but really liked Riddick as well. The Riddick character in the video game was amazing. Loved everything about him in it, but I would have loved for it to be longer. And really looking forward to A Perfect Getaway with Steve Zahn!
  10. http://english.ohmygore.com/dark-country-t...ws-uk-6313.html October 6th DVD release? My brother ordered Coraline with 3D glasses recently. It would be kick arse if they worked with Dark Country as well. Oh. And the Mr. Sparkle Edition is on my want list! ;P
  11. Hahaha. Gott damn. I think you might be right!
  12. Aha. Scott knows his shit at least. But I'm not holding my breath for a movie that will blow the first four out of the water. Nostalgia is a powerful emotion. As a relative of mine (a 10 year old) said about the new T4, which he dug. "It had great graphics!". So, what do I know what the kids are looking for these days.
  13. Carl Rinsch is the director right? I like the tradition of them always bringing in an unknown director to make an alien flick. I don't care if there is any prequel or a new 5th one. If they suck I'll just put them on my ignore list. The franchise is probably already fucked with the AVP movies that came out anyway. So maybe baby, they can make a cool one again.
  14. There's no waaaay there will be any remake that surpasses the originals. "game over man?!". And if someone goes ahead with it, it'll prolly be just an (wow! great graphics!) movie, like T4 or Volvorine. Buuuut Star Trek was niiiice.. Third was always my fav, but that's because that's the third movie I bought (mom bought for me) ever when I was 10. And Alien Resurrection blew me away as well in the movies (when I was 13), but it made me sick to my stomach watching at home when it was out on VHS. And I couldn't eat Salmon for six years. I think I reacted on all the gory effects. I loved it because of Perlman, the dude in the wheelchair, Guy of fucking Gisbourne from Robin Hood!, Winona, Dourif, Orser and of course Weaver.. And when the quadrilogy came and I was even more interested in directors etc, I found out that Jean Pierre Jeunet made it. And with the exception of Resurrection being an "commercial" jeunet movie, it's so much better than alot of the effects movies being released today. 1&2 will always be legendary, but all in all it's 4 different, but great movies. Get moving on a prequel or a 5th one instead!

Hey! The next Hung episode is directed by Bronwen Hughes, who directed Stander! She also has an episode that's airing on the 23th of Aug.
  18. A trailer is a trailer, but really looking forward to this now. I get a Wild At Heart vibe. But I guess seeing a couple driving in the desert will do that to me.
  19. Nighthawk

    HUNG

Third episode was great! This show just gets better and better. There were way more drama in this episode than any other so far as well. Some scenes were very uncomfortable to watch! I felt so sorry for Tanya! Looking forward to the 4th ep!
