Saint Bernadette -

Blues-based rock and folk; I got to meet the 3 founding members of band and they're all cool cats. B)

Definitely check out the song "Love is a Stranger"; to me it's the band's ultimate song with a retro vibe and a build up of emotion towards the end of the song. More complex as it goes along...

I really like the band Rocco Deluca and The Burden.

+1. I really dig them too. I watched the documentary with Kiefer Sutherland, and have been a fan since.

I DL'd the new Three Days Grace album on I-tunes and have found myself really digging it. I've always liked the band, even if they were a little heavy on the angst.

That's exactly how I got into them. I heard that Kiefer had this record label, and knew that there was a documentary about them. My brother bought it for me. I wasn't sure if I was going to like the group; I was more into seeing Kiefer go on the road. But I ended up liking a lot of Rocco's music. My favorite song would have to be "Gravitate." I still have it in my head.

Since I've been going on about Charlotte Gainsbourg in a film thread, I'll just mention here that her recent album IRM is out in the U.S. now and it's a cool album, produced by Beck and running the gamut from gritty indie rock and slight blues to chanteuse-style noir ballads to the Portishead-like title track, all tied together by Charlotte's hallmark sang froid.

About her album:

"For IRM, she teamed up with eclectic alt rocker Beck. "He wrote all of the music and lyrics, but we really had an exchange. The album is very close to me," she says."

You've heard the Grinderman album, right? Actually, I'm wondering if there's one album out or two...?

Yeah, I have the whole lot of Nick Cave's discography (from the Boys Next Door/Birthday Party to Grinderman) on my mp3 player and I listen to it every day.

I LOVE all that stuff! The music, the videos, the live performances (the old Birthday Party stuff is so mad, it's brilliant). I think he's a genius.

I read, that the second Grinderman album is finished and will be release sometime this year.

Awww, I could rant all day about him. ;)

I love Phantom Planet. I've loved them for awhile, but I just recently got back into them, again.

If you like My Bloody Valentine or Stereolab, check out Caribou - 60's psychedelia meets 80's shoe-gazer pop.

If you like this sound, you may also like Dungen. It's a less polyester/plastic sound but just as groovy.

Step off Lady Gaga, Kylie, and Annie. There's a new dance-pop princess in town and she's ready to wear the crown.

Her (nick)name is Little Boots (aka U.K.'s Victoria Hesketh, former lead singer in the band Dead Disco) and she kicks in a big way on her debut album Hands, due out in the U.S. on March 2nd. Victoria's got a lovely, light, sweet, softly nuanced voice that brings to mind Sarah Blackwood of Client, Sarah Cracknell of Saint Etienne, and a touch of Kylie Minogue on the more overtly dancey tracks.

The ultra-sticky "Stuck On Repeat" will be spinning in your mind for a long time, while the lyrics of "Remedy" encapsulate the fervent music-lover's mindset: "I've found the antidote / Music is the cure." There's a change-of-pace number called "Meddle" with a harder, clanging rhythm and some revealing lyrics: "Don't go…messing with her mind / or messing with the things that are inside / You don't know what you'll find / You don't know what she hides." Victoria even duets with Philip Oakey of The Human League on the goth-pop song "Symmetry".

What more could you ask for? Check out the tunes of Little Boots at:

Cool! :D Oh, and I just found out yesterday that the whole album is now playing at AOL Spinner site, so check that out if you can.

I'm not into "dance music" per se, but something just struck me about the catchy melodies and maybe deeper subject matter than most dance tracks. I don't even know if "dance" is the right category. Maybe "electro-pop" fits better? Anyway, Little Boots is starting off a U.S. tour next week. I'm thinking she'll have success in the U.S.

I love dance music. Some people don't like techno, but it's my favorite kind. Electo-Pop? Yeah, I think that's a perfect category to classify Little Boots under. I think she'll make it big in the U.S.

I've always loved techno/electro-pop. My favorite is Eiffel 65. I don't know if anyone here has heard of or remembers them. They did the song "Blue (Da Ba Dee)".

Here's the video for "Blue (Da Ba Dee)":

I see Gorillaz has a new album coming out next week. The video for the new single is pretty cool. It has a Vanishing Point/Mad Max kind of feel to it with fast cars, guns, and Bruce Willis.
