Hot Off The Boards - Feedback

Recommended Posts

No other alternate Warzone shots. It was pretty much just the one.

I have some other options and I was thinking of working one up for Ray but I haven't found the time yet.

What I really want to show you is my cover for 28 Days Later #6, but it's still a tad too early.

Here's a repost of the two most recent updates to the HotB thread -

Here is the cover for 28 Days Later issue 5 -

Here is the final cover for issue 4 - Luke Cage Noir

Well. I think the 28 days piece with the knife is pretty damn stunning. The color work on that is so good that it makes me want to give up drawing.

I had missed your personal daughters of the dragon piece too, and wanted to add how much I liked that one as well. Gives off a very fluid feeling of motion, and it gives you a solid impression of character too.

I haven't gone to the comic shop in months. I'm way behind on all the noir stuff being published. As always though, that cover rocks.

Now THAT's a derail.

I was a little stunned at first, I thought some mook got in here and threw up some porn, then I came to my senses.

Noeland you must have been in a state of serenity last eve ;)

An administrator, after all . . . you should be asha . . . . never mind.

Uhh, yeah, ouch ;)

But I'll contain myself out of respect for our female compatriots.

Yes, Noeland, that toaster for sure, you pick the model No.

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Whoa...what did I miss?

Maxim/Victoria Secret stlye pix of the "toasters" Six & Sharon f/ BSG. It was a funny moment & nowhere near porn so I don't know why TB got so bashful on us and deleted 'em.

Ye Admin note: I wasn't bashful, Noeland took it down. I thought it was YUM city but it was definitely a derail.

No one's being a prude, I think Noeland just didn't want to interrupt the proceedings here. Since it's gone now I should delete the other comments that coincide.

But nahhh, let's just flow back onto topic. ;) - TB

I don't think any of the noir books have hit shops yet.

We were all working even farther ahead than we normally do.

For some reason I had to get Cage Noir 4 done right after San Diego and assumed that Punisher Noir 4 would follow directly on it's heels but so far Marvel has not gotten back to me with art direction for that yet. May be because they used a variant cover for solicits which would give me an extra cushion. Or it could just be that we're still ahead of the game.

28 Days Later cover is kind of a tease since after 5 issues we still haven't really gotten a look at Selena. For 4 issues she wore a gasmask and now with 5 she's cropped. All according to plan as next issue I pull out the reveal and I can't wait to show it off ;)

Daughters of the Dragon Colleen Wing piece is one of my personal current favorites right now.

Love for Marvel to use it someday, perhaps when they decide to dust off the characters for a new adventure.

As of now it remains a personal piece.

I should probably add the new Dark Country posters to the HotBs thread too since I'd like that thread to be a kind of portfolio of sorts, or at the very least an archive of imagery.

This was posted up at AICN: http://www.aintitcool.com/images2007/comic...umn209/28dl.JPG

There's a look at cover 4 of 28 Days Later, or one of them. I see it's stamped with "Not final art". Still, looks good. I wish this book would come out already.

Strange . . . actually, I'm pretty certain that IS the final art.

Here's a look without the trade dress.

Gah! The new kid at the comic store put the wrong Punisher Noir in my box. I was stuck at work while the wife was in the area. Good thing she spotted it, otherwise it would have been a wasted two hour trip. I tell ya, you always gotta keep an eye on the new kids ;)

Good God man. Good God!!

I feel this is some of your best work ever. Maybe best work ever in terms of cover art. I love the texture in the colors, the way you incorporated the figures into the flag is pure brilliance, and the lighting, as usual, is nothing short of inspirational.

The soft look of her skin tones, and the subtle work in the skull cap are life like as hell. It's way beyond photo realistic. It taps into something else. Can't quite put my finger on how to explain it.

At any rate, I want a print of this!

Great job Tim. Hat's off to your model. Glad to see that you're putting a face on Selina. The gas mask was kick ass, but it would have gotten old for the enire run of the series. I love the look on her face, it's battered, tired, yet ready to attack in the blink of an eye. Even more so than Rouge Angel, I think you're really showing off that you can do bad-ass women as well. Can't wait for the next one!

Red Sky! Glad to see that it's still going on. Been a while, but any update is a good thing. That background is, wow. Hell of a lot of bones.

What he said. Any time you visit that world I think God cracks a smile. It's just so . . . RIGHT. ;)

I do have a bit of a question though . . . modern day take? I spy a Smith and Wesson 439 in his shoulder rig.

A new one-shot?

Also, is that shot from the French magazine cover?

Si, same figure - more details here.

A one-shot as I understand it, but I admittedly don't know much about it other than having read the issue ;)

I like the Punisher image better with the dark background, but it may be more so because of the rain. Either way, it's a kick ass image of the Punisher and just shows what the guy is all about. Take no prisoners.

The 28 Weeks cover is spectacular. I really like the diffrent color tones of blood on the machete, some from a fresh kill, some from the past. And the sullen look on her face. Great job Tim, great job. I hope this book gets a long shelf life.

Nice tough with the rain splattering off Castle and the rifles too.

And hey, I think it goes without saying that the work you're doing for these 28 days covers is just stunning. A whole other level of bad ass iconography.

They need to release these in an upscale collection printed on heavy weight, high quality, high gloss paper!!

Sadly, that'll be my last cover for 28 Days Later.

Was hoping the series would go longer, or I'd go longer on that series . . . but . . . the good news is -

I'm switching over to another of BOOM!'s titles. This one may be even better ;)

How about a Clive Barker, Bradstreet reunion?

Managing editor, Matt Gagnon describes this as "a project that will differ from Clive's IDW stuff in that it's a brand new original series.

An epic.

It's gonna be our big shotgun blast to start out 2010."

Right now it's still in the development stage but things should be gearing up in the next few weeks.

That's about all I can say at this point. I can't even tell folks the title as I believe BOOM! has yet to officially unveil this thing to the public.

Stay tuned for an official announcement in a dedicated thread.

I really love the color choices, and the subtle hues on the dragon. The angle it's breaking into frame is also very cool. It sucks you right into the work.

And in an odd way the random texture on her hoodie and jeans sort of contrasts the precision and uniformity of the scales on the dragon.

The following illustrations are for a new book project I'm working on.

Still working on my title but here's the gist, at the end of the day I'm going to have 12-15 illustrations completed.

For each of the illustrations I'm having a writer pal create a story to go with it . . . the normal creative process in reverse.

Once I have something like 3000 words from each of the writers I'll go back and add a spot illustration or two to each of the stories.

I want to print it oversized, like an art book, and do some sweet and nifty book design, make this motherfucker really sing.

Some of the writers I'm involving are (so far) - Todd Farmer, Steve Niles, Warren Ellis, Mark Hosack, Brian Azzarello, David J. Schow, Stephen Romano, Bruce Jones, Gary Whitta, and I'll write the Red Sky Diary entry.

This book will also include the recent illustration, Hell Patrol, posted elsewhere in this thread.

Hoping to have the art wrapped by end of summer.

Anyway, here are 2 pieces I've finished recently.

The Hunting Party -

TheHuntingPartyBW.jpg

Aftermath - from Red Sky Diary -

GsllowsAftermathF.jpg

I'm all ears if you have a suggestion for a title, but PLEASE, serious ideas only my friends.

Respond in the feedback here.

Thanks - TB

Very cool stuff, Tim!

The first character in the "Hunting Party" kinda reminds me of James Caviezel in "Outlander" :P

How about Soldiers of the Apocalypse for the title?
