  1. I've been working on new reference sheets and updated character designs for the relaunch of the sisters. Choo's armor is now more directly inspired by classical Joseon era plate mail, still deliberately anachronistic, but at least within the context of what would have been likely/possible at the time. She's going to be taller after the re-launch as well. (she'll be a full 6'2" now). I'll be making a scale standee for each sister both as convention booth props and as terracotta soldiers to stand beside me as I write and draw.
  2. A good suggestion, and it kind of aligns with my experience on my Li'l Musa kickstarter last year: (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/433092860/lil-musa-miniature-and-minicomic). If it hadn't been for my parents and one crazily devoted friend throwing in last minute pledges to the collective tune of 1/3rd the goal, I'd probably not have funded. If that's the case though I might launch the sisters reboot in the Spring, and do another miniature KS this year. I've got a pretty cool concept for a set of seven minis that I'm pretty excited about. But I'd have to model them, and I've never modeled for 3D printing before. I could have them hand sculpted, but that means more up-front cost.
  3. Will do. I need to just pick a KS date though... if I don't I'll procrastinate forever.
  4. So as I gear up for my relaunch, I've been getting in the mood by reacquainting myself with the titular protagonists of The Legendary Sisters of the Laughing Doggebi. I haven't picked a start date for the kickstarter just yet. The Woodcutter's Wife The Sword Collector The Trickster The Saint The Albino
  5. I just updated my blog with this instagram bump...
  6. Thank you very much. I have been. Or at least I'm doing better than I was for a while. Thanks so much.
  7. Feeling the need to get the sisters back up and running... I'm dusting the cobwebs off my rendering synapses... is that a terribly mixed metaphor? Anyway... I present "The Widow" start of my most recent Halloween Special and latest attempt to step up my light rendering game.
  8. Wow... it's been quite a while since I updated this thread... but I feel like the launch of my very first Kickstarter is a good reason. I'm putting together a gaming miniature and mini-comic combo pack starring this L'il Musa character originally inspired by my daughter.
  9. Thanks Noeland. Wow. It's been a while since I visited here...
  10. It's been a while since I've posted about The Sisters ... and I feel pretty good about the way the last two weeks have come out, so I thought I'd pop in and share last week's update.
  11. A few weeks ago, http://www.legendarysisters.com went live... Check it out if you get a chance.
  12. I just got this crazy idea. I'm sure there are others out there like me... people who want to be in comics. But are at the moment trapped in some other industry. Let's hijack the term "Underemployed" and shoe-horn it to mean just that... you're not doing what providence put you on earth to do... you're doing something else. So here's my idea. Let's raid the supply closet and make a comic using only the tools at work. So a page a day, 5 days a week. The caveat is that you must not be a professional that normally does what your role on the comic is. For example... I'm going to draw it. I'm a software developer. If I was an illustrator however... well then that would contradict the concept. So I need a writer who isn't employed as a writer. Maybe a colorist who has access to coloring tools but doesn't use them to color for a living etc. Got the concept? Email me if you're interested. Tell me what your real job is, what tools you have access to and what you'd like to do on the comic. Obviously we're not making money on this... we're just wasting time at work in a passive aggressive protest of our own corporate hells.
