mediumfan 0
Where can I call to hire Ray and his services?? Sign me up!! This IS a great opening, ruggedly beautiful, come on! - as well as all the other clips quoted by Jen. I love the notion of Greek god from the waist up, middle manager from waist down. I think that fits the tone perfectly! I love that! Perfect description! Suits him to a T. It looks like this show might actually be HBO's next big thing (damn, there's just no getting around the size jokes!). The premiere drew 2.8 million viewers for the initial airing and the midnight airing added another 900K for a total 3.7 million viewers, which makes it HBO's biggest series debut in two years (since John from Cincinnati) and almost matching the debuts of Sex and the City and Curb Your Enthusiasm. Looks a real winner for TJ and Co. Let's just hope it lasts.
sidewaysgaze 0
The http://www.pimpray.com/ site for Hung is now up 'n' running and contains a funny intro video from Tom and Jane Adams. Create an advertisement for Ray's "services" and you could win $10K! Jen OMG!! Did you see how many ads have been created so far for this contest?! There are 44 pages right now, with, I think, 6 ads on each page... Goodness, I have no chance of winning this thing... Jen

sidewaysgaze 0
Here are a couple more Hung reviews: Here's another review of Hung: "Jane's weathered good looks and exhausted demeanor are a great fit for the lovable loser role of Ray, and he creates genuine chemistry with the actress who plays Tanya and shares his surname as her first name: Jane Adams." http://www.examiner.com/x-13515-San-Diego-...o-hang-in-there and "Hung’s pilot was surprisingly compelling—partly because of strong performances by each of the actors; mostly because of Alexander Payne, the writer/director behind Sideways, About Schmidt, and Election. Payne’s not responsible for the script, but he knows exactly what to do with it...and turns the pilot into a slow, deliberate character study of a man at his ultimate low, who knows he’s not smart enough to think himself back to security." http://www.factualopinion.com/the_factual_...totw_63009.html Jen

Create an advertisement for Ray's "services" and you could win $10K! Jen Well, I pimped Ray about 5-6 times and will probably do more if I think of a good one. Loved the pilot and so did my hubby! Very off-beat and funny. Ray's financial dilemma comes at a time when alot of folks can relate. Good luck Tom and cast!

sidewaysgaze 0
Interview with Hung creators Dmitry Lipkin and Colette at MonstersandCritics.com: "Jane’s prowess as an actor makes you feel deeply for him as he has to ask for money from an ex wife who left him for a wealthier man, and when he has to deny his son some cash for a trifling expense because he just doesn’t have the extra to spare. sidewaysgaze 0
Blogger review of pilot episode of Hung: "...if there is a reason to see where Hung is headed, it's Thomas Jane, who shouldered the whole episode very well and made for an identifiable and likeable protagonist." http://danowen.blogspot.com/2009/07/hung-11-pilot.html and another blogger review: "Masterfully directed with intense visual innuendos crammed into almost every other shot, clever verbal suggestiveness packed into the dialogue, downright insane double entendres and a damned brilliant performances by Thomas Jane and Jane Adams." http://drakonskyr.xanga.com/706237344/ever...s-big-ol-dicks/ and Hung gets a B: "Jane is likable, Adams is, too, and so - believe it or not - is "Hung."" http://www.newsday.com/entertainment/tv/ny...story?track=rss Jen
sidewaysgaze 0
HBO is airing the 2nd episode of Hung, 1/2 long, on Sunday, July 12 at 10pm EST in USA, with a repeat at 11pm EST that same night. Check your local listings for any differences. Jen
sidewaysgaze 0
Review: "Thomas Jane is a formidable man. Whether you're watching him kick butt as Mickey Mantle in 61* or kick even more butt as The Punisher in 2004, there's just something about him that speaks to the audience, unlike most of his action hero counterparts who seem to be all muscle and no brain. ... Oh, and he's also absolutely perfect as Ray Drecker, a desperate, burned-out high school basketball coach nursing a failed marriage, two socially unsettled kids, and a seriously bruised ego." http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/1..._episode_1.html and Review: "HBO’s Hung is a fun show. The first episode is more about how much it sucks to be Ray than anything else. Ray thinks it can’t get any worse, but he’s a high school teacher who wants to be a male prostitute-so yeah, it can get worse." http://www.ifyouwriteit.com/2009/07/hbos-h...what-its-about/ and "I watched the première of Hung, HBO’s new series about a male-for-female escort. ...It wasn’t bad. Frankly, it was much better than I thought it would be. The lead actor, Thomas Jane, plays the character of Ray Drecker with a deft touch." blogger called mistress matisse Jen
mediumfan 0
Saw another neat featurette on HBO last night called The Women of Hung, with short interviews with Thomas, as well as many of his female co-stars like Jane Adams and Anne Heche among others. They were all talking about the character of Ray and how clueless he is about women. Cute! Btw, if a female prostitute's client is called a "john", is a male prostitute's client called a "jane"? Tim Bradstreet 0
I know I mentioned this before Tom but let me add my thoughts here in print as well. Congratulations! You really deserve the spotlight the show is bringing. You are a hard working sonofabitch and you've been very picky about your career choices with good reason. It's a hard road to stick to your guns, turn aside easy paydays in high profile summer blockbusters, direct a small film when you have a chance in your lap to star as every fanboy's favorite or second favorite WATCHMEN. There are lots of other examples. But you do what you have to do to be you and I respect the hell out of you for that. I hope you're taking a moment to enjoy this if only for a little bit. The show is great, you and the rest of the cast are wonderful in it, and I'm proud as hell of ya. Well done amigo. Now just remember, you don't have to wake up at 4:30AM every morning, not 'till next season starts rolling Get some sleep and the next round is on me. xo - TB
