Well Brian, it's been a flop regardless of the caliber of the film. Seems more like mismanagement, but flop in this case is simply used in the financial sense.

Though I do agree that it gives the wrong impression of the film's quality.

It's in my queue regardless.

The Weinsteins did this to themselves. Dropping a film in 5 theaters in one state in not going to slay the box office anytime soon, even if the film only cost a million bucks. There should have been some disclaimer in the artical. As for The Weinstein Co., they just need to get smart. With Zack and Miri Make a Porno, I'm sure the title of the film didn't help any. Kevin Smith is great and I loved Zack and Miri, but this is America and when it comes to mainstream film, we are sexually repressed, and if anyone in the film company should know this you'd think the guys that helmed Mirmax would know. Being the indie darling company of the early 90's I'm sure they came across more than their fair share of obsticals, but some people never learn I guess.

I don't know the Weinsteins, but from everything I've heard about them, and based on the way they have mishandled so many films, I'm not really surprised at the way that this movie has been treated. It's a cryin' shame, really. Can't say I know more about the film industry than anybody else, but even I can see that this was terrible mismanagement on the part of the studio.

No idea if it's coming out in Germany at all.

I guess I'll have to wait for the DVD as usual.

Is Killshot coming out on DVD soon in USA??

I saw a little blurb at a blogspot that said the following:

"The Weinstein Company announced that long-on-the-shelf Killshot, which stars Mickey Rourke, Diane Lane, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Thomas Jane and Rosario Dawson, for a 26 May DVD release (after a brief theatrical run earlier this year).", so I checked out the official Weinstein site, and they do list Killshot as "coming soon to DVD", but I don't see a release date at their site...

Amazon is listing region 1 for a release of May 26th. Two months to go!

Yay! I can't wait! :D

Until then, here's a link to a review of Killshot, but BEWARE, MAJOR PLOT/CHARACTER ARC SPOILERS in the article, so read it at your own risk!! Here's a spoiler-free sample:

"This is a brilliantly-performed (Viggo Mortensen was originally supposed to

play Jane's part - but the former "Punisher" does good!), exquisitely shot

(Caleb Deschanel's cinematography is breathtaking; John Madden's direction

well-crafted) and very gripping thriller."

Also, here's a link to a longish review sent in to the SouthWest Missourian by a viewer who saw Killshot in California recently. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK DUE TO PLOT SPOILERS and, ummm, some not great comments about certain characters and relationships.

"It is, at the heart, a pretty good crime thriller. It's just a flawed one. I'm

really surprised this did not have a wider release, as it's really pretty

entertaining on the whole and could have been top notch..."

I was just wondering if there was a Region 2 DVD release in the pipeline too.

Ebay is my friend. Couldn't do without it, getting all the R1 DVD's which have never been released in Europe.... ;)

Unbelievable! Not even his name on the front cover. :o I wasn't expecting a photo, since the posters never featured Tom, but for the DVD...!

No wonder that Tom isn't on cover.

This is a Lane vs. Rourke movie.

Tom is here just a gimmick , i think.

It's probably like someone said a while back. With the recent success of The Wrestler, the studios are using Rourke's comeback to promote the movie, and heavily featuring him in the promos from the looks of it. But if the studios had had any sense, they could have released this movie two years ago when The Mist came out and cross-promoted the hell out of them with Thomas as the lead (or co-lead) in both. But since they're most likely from different studios, that would never happen.
