brianmcquery 0
This is supposedly coming out tomorrow, but I can't find any theaters in L.A. where it's showing. Does anyone know if it's being released in L.A. tomorrow? And if so, where?
kdedu 0
Movifone has it playing at 4 theatres in Phoenix.
brianmcquery 0
I thought that was a joke that it would only play on 5 screens in Phoenix. Jesus...

Guest AdminGuyX
It isn't playing anywhere within a 200 mile radius of Atlanta. Guess I'll have to catch it on DVD.
sidewaysgaze 0
At Moviefone.com I entered a location, the name Killshot, and then selected "unlimited", to see where Killshot would be playing in USA, and here's the info and link for the areas in Arizona. GO SEE KILLSHOT if you're anywhere near these theaters (or not near 'em! LOL):  1. Harkins Superstition Springs 25 (2,054.8 mi) 6950 E. sidewaysgaze 0
...and just a PS - double check the times and locations for the info, because that's just what I saw now, but maybe things will change. Also, ignore the milage in parentheses - that's for the distance of NJ to AZ. Hmmm, should I take a plane from NJ to AZ and go see Killshot?.... Hmmm... BatmanCustoms 0
i hope like hell they get in more theaters. cant belive not one damn theater in DFW.
brianmcquery 0
This is like the release of a grindhouse movie in the '70s. I've heard Roger Corman talk about how they would release their flicks. "We'll open with our 5 prints in Arizona. Then we'll move to New Mexico. Then Texas, Vegas, and California. This is insane. They must have contractually had to release it in theaters, but to just open it 5 theaters in Arizona, what a fuck you.
kdedu 0
Tell me about it!! Â One more reason why I loathe the marketing/distribution network of Hollywood. This kind of crap and what they're doing to Mutant Chronicles is just disgusting. Â I read an interesting article in the New Yorker a few weeks back about Tim Palen of LionsGate and what his "methods" are. He sounds like a nice guy but MY GOD. All of Hollywood uses only 4 quadrants to decide how to market a film? (men under twenty-five; older men; women under twenty-five; older women - oh and the catchall "freak factor" - guess I'll always be a freak.) Wal-Mart has a more sophisticated marketing method than that!! This is serious BS that can only be gotten away with when profit margins are so wide. Â And too bad I was born 15 years late, I would've loved being a Corman girl.
mediumfan 0
Â This is bullshit! The Weinsteins are freakin' idiots! What kind of crap marketing strategy is this? And why the hell did they choose Phoenix of all places? why not New York or LA? Isn't that the usual MO? Start in the larger markets and slowly move out to the smaller ones? Â Sounds like this is the Weinsteins way of satisfying some contractual obligation to "release in theaters" before they dump it to dvd. What a bunch of crap! sidewaysgaze 0
Killshot earned near $11 K this past weekend, opening in 5 theaters in Arizona. That's what Elmore Leonard's official site and MSN (if you can find the article) say:  "It has earned $10,741 to date."  http://www.elmoreleonard.com/index.php?/we..._in_the_desert/  and  http://movies.msn.com/movies/movie/killshot/?affid=100055   and an article on how the movie was, focusing on Mickey Rourke; possible PLOT SPOILERS: http://www.thefirstpost.co.uk/filmtalk,0,m...484?WTmc_id=rss  ...with the 2 reviews mentioned in above link here; possible PLOT SPOILERS:  ""Killshot," if billed as a taut, high-drama thriller, doesn't disappoint."  http://media.www.ecollegetimes.com/media/s...t-3592528.shtml  and  "...the strength of the film rest almost entirely upon the performances. Luckily, they're uniformly good, if not great."  http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/p...llshot0123.html   Jen

Maybe if they hadn't sat on this film so long, Mickey Rourke might have gotten back on the radar a little bit sooner.  -skye

sidewaysgaze 0
Well, it seems like Elmore Leonard and whoever works on his official site have all the latest about Killshot. In the Thursday, January 29, 2009 post there's a section about how Killshot has been released in Israel and South Africa already!  Here's the section from Elmore Leonard's blog, with a link to his site, as well as a link to Killshot info at BoxOfficeMojo:   "Killshot Opens in South Africa According to Box Office Mojo:  As Killshot racked up a whopping domestic total of $13,267, we learn that it has been released internationally and has a foreign gross, as of Jan. 25, 2009 of $129,752. Unknown to everybody this side of Tel Aviv, including apparently the producers, it opened in Israel on 11/13/08 and did $102,386 worth of business.  On the same day as US opening on January 23, it opened in South Africa to the tune of $27,366. Box Office Mojo also reports upcoming international openings in Taiwan (3/20/09, Mexico (3/27/09), Russia (5/7/09) and Argentina (6/11/09). Book your flight now to avoid the rush."  http://www.elmoreleonard.com/  and  http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=killshot.htm   Jen

johnpweber 0
Poor Elmore. I really feel bad for the guy. The film looks good, and in the last decade, there have been some really awful adaptations of his books. There were a few great ones, some okay, but the bad ones where dreadful. Too bad this didn't happen to Be Cool or The Big Bounce instead.
MikeyP 0
Agreed... Though 'Out of Sight' is one of my top films ever. LOVED it.
JoeJusko 0
Sara Foster was really hot, but The Big Bounce played more like a travelogue for Hawaii than anything else. brianmcquery 0
I just read something in Entertainment Weekly that pissed me off. Â In an article about how Harvey Weinstein is campaigning for THE READER to win Best Picture: Â "Industry insiders have been predicting the demise of The Weinstein Co. for more than a year. A string of recent flops, including ZACK AND MIRI MAKE A PORNO and KILLSHOT, have surely depleted the studio's coffers, and Weinstein's actions of late - pushing films off their release dates and dumping another on five screens in the middle of Arizona - have fueled the rumors." Â Now the article calls KILLSHOT a flop, but doesn't identify that it's the movie that was dumped on those five screens in Arizona. Calling KILLSHOT a flop is disgusting. I would argue that you could hardly say it was even released. It seems more like test marketing than an actual release. Â And as for ZACK AND MIRI MAKE A PORNO, it did what every Kevin Smith movie does and grossed about $30 million. It cost $24, so it's not a hit, but it's hardly a flop. I'm sure with Seth Rogen they wanted a smash, but it's still not a flop. Â THE READER which is the movie that the article is about cost $32 million and only grossed $16 million so far. That's the flop, Oscar nominations or not. Â It would be nice to have the opportunity for the general public to see KILLSHOT before labeling it a flop.
