Tim Bradstreet 0
Need I say more? Yes, I DO need say more. Wrightson has been a huge inspiration to generations of young illustrators. His legacy to us all is the unbelievable body of work he created for his magnum opus, "Frankenstein - Or The Modern Prometheus", of which this Illustration is but a small sample. Bernie is currently illustrating "City Of Others" with Steve Niles (Steve and Bernie are writing) over at Dark Horse. Check it out if you haven't already. Love to see some other Bernie art posted here, so together we can initiate the uninitiated. Bernie is a God of art, and if you don't believe me go look at his website - http://www.wrightsonart.com or his MySpace pics if you are a member - http://www.myspace.com/berniewrightson Oh, and City of Others - http://www.myspace.com/cityofothers - Tb
irish46 0
Man! I'm kind of a fossil so I've really seen a lot of artists comic work. But none of it has left it's mark in HORROR comics like Bernie Wrightsons. I'm an old illustrator and his work has always been an inspiration to me. He just does "Dark and Creepy better than anybody! I have been following and enjoying his city of others. Need I say more? Yes, I DO need say more. Wrightson has been a huge inspiration to generations of young illustrators. Tim Bradstreet 0
Right on, Irish! Here's another of my favorites. This is a cropped detail of another of his Frankenstein pieces. If you're into the Frankenstein work, and you've already seen a ton of it, you might be interseted in looking at the work of Franklin Booth, or Joseph Clement Coll - Both large inspirations for the technique Bernie employed on Frankenstein. Coll - Booth You can find books by either of them at Bud Plant.com - TB
grantbond 0
This work got me to the point where I wanted to make comics as a kid.

Bruce Brown 0
WOW!!! Now that is incredible!! Love the "scratch art" look to it!! Great work!! I am now a fan!!
Guest AdminGuyX
LOVE Franklin Booth. LOVE his work. I got a chance to do some woodcut style stuff for MGM Grand once, and I very nearly did it in this kind of dense style, but ultimately went for a more open sharper cleaner look, but still, I can't get enough of this type of work. I haven't seen books for Coll before. I just found a new item for my christmas list! HA! Thanks Tim.

DrPhibes 0
Bernie Wrightson is hands down my all-time favorite artist. I enjoy drawing monsters in my spare time and I have to say he's been a huge influence.
SteveWilcox 0
Love Wrightson. The Frankenstein book was beautiful. I remember photocopying his pages and just being in awe of the details... I just, about a week ago, found an old issue of DC Comics Flinch anthology with a story by Bruce Jones, Bernie Wrightson on pencils and Tim Bradstreet on inks... Great stuff! linworkman 0
Got to see Bernie (and Liz!) at Comic Con, and man was I happy to hear the Frankenstein book is being re-released this year! First time I met Bernie was at Wonderfest in Louisville. I was waiting outside with some friends for the con to open and when I went to throw away my trash from breakfast I said good morning to a guy standing there smoking a cigarette. He said good morning back, and that's when I saw "Berni Wrightson" on his badge! I went back and whispered to my friends, "That's Bernie Writghtson!.." About that time I notice he's walking towards us and asks me what I have in the box in front of me. I think he saw the bat ears of my Batman Returns model sticking out of the top of the box. We talked for a few minutes before the con staff came and escorted him inside. Later we got to watch him draw a Swamp Thing sketch while he did a casual Q&A. Way cool! Guest FADoss
Reading "Cycle of the Werewolf" with illustrations by Berni Wrightson. What beautiful work. Was the character Chris Wrightson on the book a nod to Berni? Fred
