I can't see it being an official one. I totally get that lower budget movies won't always have the bandwidth for the kind of posters that the A-list ones have but this one looks like they got someone from Fiverr! 🤣🤣🤣

Hey Geoff, y'know if the powers that be need a great designer at a reasonable price, I have someone I could put them in touch with! She is epic!

Really? Because I can picture myself stumbling across this at Wal-Mart really easy. HaHa!

    Because amateurs!

I'd actually go so far as to say that the tagline is terrible. Makes my inner copywriter twitch! Ha ha! It really does look like a bad fan-made poster... mayhap it is. No idea.

It actually looks as though Tom's head has been Photoshopped onto someone else's body. He looks like one of our airport security police in that poster... which I'm sure what CB is not about! 😂

Yup. Yeah.....that tagline definitely lacks originality.

I think a fan-made poster would've been better than this, which I'm hoping is just a mock-up. Please don't be the official one. That would be sad.

Also astonishing (and I love to be astonished) is the fact that I envisioned a detective fully compliant with the cliché: large hat, small hidden gun under the coat. The gun he holds here is larger than ... well... extremely large. It isn't even a gun. What type of detective will we discover?

Who knows? But now we'll have to see if his character fires that bad boy or if it's just a poster prop. 😅

Oh, I agree about not having the love interest! It worked well for Tennant and Piper but it was so disappointing when they did it again with Freema. Just, why?! I loved that with Donna, the point was made right from the start that it wasn't going to happen!

If you do watch Smith's series, do bear in mind that his first is largely rubbish. But he is brilliant, and reminds me so much of Patrick Troughton's Doctor. Troughton was my first Doctor... they say you never forget your first! Ha ha! Smith really comes into his own toward the end of his stint.

I liked Capaldi's Doctor. A lot. I just really didn't like most of the stories he was given. The Robin Hood one was excruciating! LOL! Flatline was good though.

Whittaker's enthusiasm feels to me, too forced, whereas with Tennant, it was completely natural. It feels as though the directors and writers were just trying too hard to recreate that off the wall aspect, and as a result, it seems (to me, anyway) completely fake. But... that could be entirely down to the fact that I've mostly watched her in serious roles! I suspect also, that I feel disappointed because in the past, female characters have largely been done really well (let's just gloss over Christina de Souza!), whereas practically everything about Whittaker's Doctor just seems so weak. But hey, horses for courses - it wouldn't do for us all to have the same taste, would it?!

Torchwood is far more adult-themed, and centres around a female cop - Gwen (pretty much an arsehole!) who stumbles across a covert team of alien specialists, led by Capt. Jack Harness (yay!). Burn Gorman (Murtry in Expanse S4) is in it, also playing an arsehole! Some of the stories are a bit naff but on the whole, they are really good. The mini-series, Children of Men, was epic! If you get around to watching it, though, do yourself a favour, and stop after Children of Men. Don't watch Miracle Day (it was on Starz - that should be off-putting enough, ha ha!)... if you do, you may regret it!

Yes, Donna was a fun addition to the series.

I might check out Smith, though the fact that the material wasn't done well doesn't make me want to rush to see it anytime soon. My first was Tennant, so maybe that's why I compare the others to him.

HaHa! Yes, not all of the stories for Capaldi were that great, but I still enjoyed seeing him. "Flatline" is a great one.

I can see why you would think it was forced. One of my uncles has always loved watching DOCTOR WHO, but he finds the 13th Doctor over-the-top & annoying, just like you do. This is my first time experiencing Jodie Whittaker, so I don't have her serious roles as a comparison. Don't worry. I'm not going to make you watch any more episodes of hers.

Capt. Jack would be my reason to see it! 😁 I had heard a lot of praise for CHILDREN OF MEN. I hadn't heard too much of anything for MIRACLE DAY, so maybe fans are pretending it didn't happen.

You're absolutely right. It's fantastic that there even is a poster before production. And TJ cannot be overseen, so I like that!

We should also be glad that we can see TJ's eyes, instead of hiding them behind sunglasses. But I still can't stop laughing when I look at it. 😆

Hi Rosella, I've put my khaki pants and my exploration helmet on. Did a bit of archeological research and boom... S5 Ep 3. 😉

Well, thank you for digging that up for us, Ariane!! Very good to know! 😁

But I agree here with y'all: this picture on a poster doesn't bring the same effect 😖

Even the tagline is so-so. This looks like a fake movie poster. I don't know why they don't spend more time on covers/posters.

    I do love seeing that TJ got top-billing. That's a plus. 👍

  8. Thanks for posting the Miller pic, Geoff! There was not nearly enough of him in the trailer. What a tease!

The trailer does look INCREDIBLE!!! Hope Amazon Prime promotes them well. The fact that they already renewed THE EXPANSE for another season is great. It takes some of the pressure off, I think.

I don't know which episode TJ is directing of THE EXPANSE for Season 5, but I sure hope he gets to do either the season premiere or finale. 😊

Tennant was such a brilliant Doctor, wasn't he? I really didn't think he could be topped... and then Matt Smith happened! It was just a shame that Smith fell victim to Steven Moffat's awful tenure. Tennant had some of the best-ever episodes though; Blink, Girl in the Fireplace, Human Nature/Family of Blood, Midnight. And the best companion - Donna!

I really liked Ecclestone too. I wanted to like Capaldi, as he's such a cool guy and fantastic actor, but with the exception of one or two episodes, his run was utterly terrible, IMO.

Jodie Whittaker is another fantastic actor but I couldn't even get through her series. It was truly appalling, and I loathe all the self-conscious box-ticking going on. I also really dislike that she has to have an entire team around her. Why? Because she's female, and therefore not capable of sorting shit out by herself? Because she's female, and therefore the showrunners wanted to deflect from her gender because they had made an unpopular decision? Because she's female, and therefore needs to have a 'family'? It would have been far better, IMO, to have made her a sole traveller for her series. And to get some good writers on board. And to stop trying so hard to be so.... kooky.

Or maybe I just have to accept that after being a lifelong Whovian, I may have outgrown it! (Although I still hugely enjoy re-watching 9, 10, & 11.)

Still love Torchwood - apart from that dreadful American series!

I haven't seen Matt Smith & have only watched a few of Eccleston. I really enjoyed Capaldi's take on it, though I know he's not considered a fave by a lot of people. I don't know. I just liked his approach to the character/his attitude. HaHa! Oh, I adore Jodie Whittaker as The Doctor. I didn't think I would, though. But she grew on me quickly. & the fact that she has 'friends' around her doesn't bother me. They do make a great team. I'm just glad they didn't pair her with some guy who's gonna fall in love with her. That would've been an 🙄 premise. The energy/enthusiasm of her Doctor reminds me so much of Tennant's.

Maybe the next Doctor will win you over.

    I haven't seen Torchwood. I'm behind. 😋

No, she definitely thought he was John Travolta.

Late to responding to this but....HaHa! That's a good one. That would mean that, according to your friend, there were TWO John Travoltas in THE PUNISHER😆

Story is completely fictional but with all the recent shootings in the US its makes it very current and relevant and will cause a lot if conversation when the announcement goes public.

Fictional or not, it will cause a stir of emotions. I just hope it's done well.

This is a topic that will leave no one indifferent for sure. Geoff are you allowed to tell us if the director and writer's message will be either pro-gun or pro-legislation?

I'm hoping it continues a much needed discussion & not just a debate.

    Its definitely been discussed. 😀

Its evolved a fair bit now though and has a much better story to it. We joke BTS that Rusty was the 2nd of the 4 Horseman of the Apocalypse. So with your idea of  Rusty tour tee i took it one stage further.

Im looking at images for the front and the on the back will be 7 tour locations (7 wonders of the world) but each one except one will have a big CANCELLED sticker across the date with things like CANCELLED DUE TO PLAGUE, CANCELLED DUE TO LOCUST INFESTATION its gonna be a bitchin shirt!!!! images are posing me issues though so its a taken a bit of time to do that one.

We were talking about some new ones last night as a few have fallen by the way side.

Im making Tom one that says "Not Christopher Lambert" on the front and "Fuck off Aaron Echart" on the back lol

I like taken some of his insta posts into account too so Im lovin a new idea for one that just says #fuckinhastags

So lots goin on promise promise.

Yes!! Awesome ideas for Rusty's tour T-shirt! 😆

Christopher Lambert & Aaron Eckhart but no James Purefoy!? Fit him on the sleeve!

    *Dark Country SPOILERS*

The thread title should indicate that as well I believe...

    Hi Rosella !

I love this entire thread and the fun that Tim and Tom had at NOT reacting on the posts. I can literally see them grinning !

When the movie ended, we sat there sitting in the dark, during several seconds without a single word. And then, bam... discussion starts 🙂 Did you see that? How did you understand that? And what happened there? I love this kind of discussion after a screening, when the pieces come together.

Our view was close to yours: to me, Dark Country is a time travel. When driving on that road AND turning off your car lights, then you are travelling to the past. They hit BloodyFace, arrive at the "old" gas station. While escaping the police, Dick turns off his car lights and has his accident in the past...

Does that make sense 🙂 ?

Hey, Ariane! Apologies for my delay in responding. Yes, this entire thread is a keeper. Yeah, it's always fun when there's a collective "What just happened?" after a movie.

Great take! Does time travel ever make sense? 😏
