Music: what are you currently infatuated with?

Recommended Posts

I'm just not very happy with the choice of singles (or with the director for the videos).

They could have done much better. But I guess I'm in the minority. ;)

I don't like Pussy, but the second single which will be released is the other song on the album I don't like: Ich Tu Dir Weh.

It's gonna be directed by Jonas Åkerlund again, so I'm kind of worried that he'll turn this into some kind of torture porn video or something like that.

It's a shitty song, but damn if it isn't catchy. The video is like his sequel to "Mann gegen Mann", I'm not too worried about the next video.

Well, since one of the first actions of Germany's new government  was to index the new Rammstein album for "too explicit sexual" lyrics and album art work, all I can ask is: what times are we living in?? Unbelievable.

I just can't believe what a sad decision this it. Very sad. <_<

I've been jamming out to the new Amos Lee CD "last days at the lodge" almost nonstop the last couple of weeks.

I've listened to his music since I first heard "arms of a women" which is one of those songs that brings me a lot of peace and reminds me of a really good time in my past.

His new stuff is more tortured and angry. I think he must have had a bad relationship that inspired this new stuff. Couple of live samples.

Here is a podcast about my favorite song on the new Cd "Listen"

Really? That is surprising, I mean it is Germany after all.

It IS surprising and I feel ashamed that it happened. Germany was always quite liberal and the new Rammstein album is certainly not more offensive or explicit than any of their previous albums. So why now??

It bugs me when it seems that people in charge are dealing with things they know NOTHING about.

The other stupid thing is, that they waited for it to be number one in the charts, bevor that step was taken.

So, the rest of the world can enjoy the album as intented, but we can't. Well, I can, because I got the "real" album the day it came out anyway.

I've really liked listening to Bon Jovi's "We Weren't Born to Follow."

Rediscovering John Cale's Fear. Especially

and
which REALLY shoulda been on the Malone soundtrack ("When you’ve begun to think like a gun; The rest of the year has already gone"). Oh & this youtube link has a great montage of pulp detective covers.

I had totally forgotten how great this album is, what a sin I've committed!

Check out the band Maribel –

If you're into Serena-Maneesh, My Bloody Valentine, and/or A Place To Bury Strangers, you will be taken by Norway's Maribel. Distorted guitar feedback stings and drones against relentless drum beats, while breathy male and female vocals drift in the tumultuous ether…Pleasure and pain in equal measure…

You're welcome! Spent the last few weeks digging deeper into his catalog. Always thought he was the goofy Hee-Haw guy but I've been blown away by some of his stuff. Oh, to travel back to a Bakersfield honkytonk circa 1965 & hear the Buckaroos & Merle live!

Christmas is all in the Heart by Steven Curtis Chapman

This is an older song, but it always reminds me of the early years of our marriage when we didn't have much and the kids were little. Cuts through all the glitz and glitter to what really matters.

Since it is the season.... ;)

My favourite Christmas POP songs of all times are:

Greg Lake - I believe in Father Christmas

Chris Rea - Driving Home For Christmas

Shane MacGowan + Kirsty MacColl - Fairytale of New York

Chris de Burgh (!) - A Spaceman came travelling

Also, since I love that song so much, I came across that version today:

I always loved Jill Hennessy in Crossing Jordan, but now I think she's a goddess! ;)

World Music!

Last night, while making a nice, very hot lamb and pumpkin curry, we've been listening to a whole lot of World Music from the brilliant Rough Guides.

From India to Iran, from Africa to Russia and many more - it's unbelievable and fascinating how much great music this world has to offer.

And that reminded me how much I always loved Mory Kante's smash hit from 1987: Yeke Yeke
