Music: what are you currently infatuated with?

Recommended Posts

I was just blasting their Greatest Hits CD in my car today! LOVE this band! I also finally found Grace Slick's "Dreams" album on CD after looking for it for over 20 years. Apparently never released in the states. Found it in England. If you like her it's an awesome album, err, CD. :)

Looks to me like she caught and killed her prey.

Didn't seem to go along with the lyrics.

Unless they were doing a play on the whole "penetration" idea. Hmmm.

Kutless

Mistakes

Kutless is a pretty good Hard Rock Christian band. I've got a couple of their CDs and I even had the chance to see them in concert last summer with Todd Agnew. I thought the show was great but it was stolen by the warm up groups. Joy Whitlock and Jonah 33. Couldn't find anything from Joy Whitlock but here is a good tune from Jonah 33. So if you like christian rock check it out.

Thanks for the recommendation on Jonah 33. I liked that youtube link. I'll have to look for more of their music as well as keep an ear out for Joy. I've never warmed up to Agnew's stuff. Don't know why.

I agree on Agnew, I was invited to the show by an old aquaintence, and I was and am a fan of Kutless.

The new single by "Kings of Leon", think it's called "Sex on Fire" (what an awesome name :D).

The song is kickass, you all need to go out, buy it and give it a spin.

The new Metallica song "My Apocalypse" is actually pretty fucking god.

Here's a link to a New York Times article about Metallica and their new album:

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/31/arts/music/31ratl.html?

_r=1&ei=5070&emc=eta1&oref=slogin

Excerpt from article:

"Metallica will face the present soon enough, when it releases "Death

Magnetic" on Sept. 12. The album, produced by Rick Rubin, is far better

than anything the group has recorded in the last 12 years; it sounds as

if the band has woken out of a daze. But it may also be seen as a

regression, evoking the band's sound from the mid-'80s."

METALLICA.com has the full length video "My Apocalypse" and song Cyanide. They seem to have recaptured their trademark music and sound. GODBLESS Rick Ruben!

A lady friend of mine told me to check this music video out.

Rapture - IIO

It's not bad, I like it. The scenes of the city reminds me a little of "Blade Runner".

I was helping a guy weld the frame of a fed-ex truck today. This guy was a cranking old cuss but I seem to get along ok with him. As I was striking the arc he started to mumble the words to a song. I had instant flash back. It was the same song my dad used to (attempt) to sing when he was welding, and when he was trying to teach me to weld. I heard this song just about all of the 1st half of my life. So I had to look it up.

My dad was a big Johnny Horton fan, I guess, cause he was always mumbling this song...as a extra bonus the video is freaking off the hook make you pee your pants funny, without meaning to be!

As for me? I always liked this Johnny Horton song.

Dad always sang this song too...as a kid I hated it! Which was probably why he sang it. Now I remember it very fondly.

That was a blast from the past. Somehow, that's not the image I ever had in my head whenever I heard that song. I wonder where they got all the albino raccoons.
