Music: what are you currently infatuated with?

Recommended Posts

I love finding new music I havn't heard before. I'm a huge fan of Folk Rock but if you want some cool sounds try out Tom Vek http://youtube.com/watch?v=-Nx1ocgnd4A and http://youtube.com/watch?v=Pv4HemhMHbA&feature=related and one last Tom Vek one http://youtube.com/watch?v=XDy6ILWLl5g&feature=related. Also another band to check out for something new is Godspeed You! Black Emporer
and
. They also did the awsome musical piece from 28 Days Later towards the end of the film. I know I posted a lot but I like it and hope you do too. Awsome.

The soundtrack AND score for 28 Days Later are both amazing. I love the Godspeed song at the end...so chilling.

Pat Benatar

Invincible

I love Pat Benatar's hard as diamond vocals. While I really like this song by her, my fave is Shadows of the Night, because it's a softer edge in verses, than goes all out vocally on chorus, plus it tells a good story:

Just friggin' loving the new shinedown.

The song "Cry for Help" is probably my favorite currently. I've been repeating it lots.

James - I have always liked Queensryche. Operation Mindcrime is a favorite.

I don't believe in love. It's never worth the pain that you feel.

Or the mullets.

Or the leather pants.

I love track #1 Devour, and I really love track #8, What a shame...

"Two packs of cigarettes a day, the strongest whiskey Kentucky can make. That's a recipe to put a vagabond on his knees..."

Shit, I been there and done that!

And here is one more reason Serious actors shouldn't try to be serious singers...

Worked well back in Bobby Darrin's and Frank Sinatra's day....not any more.

I love how the comment on that video claims the music industry is doomed due to the quality of summer music. WTF? Last I checked Chevelle, Breaking Benjamin and Seether were still together. I think the posters problem is that they are looking to find quality music in the bubble-gum pop teenage slut music or the utterly respect free machismo charged rap music out there today. Quality ROCK is better than ever.

Devour is an amazing hard rock song, I always listen to it over a few ties before letting the rest of the CD play. :)

Yes, What a Shame is a killer song, also some great soulful guitar work in that one too, and it's a story song a bit, and I connect to the story as well. Makes me wonder who it's written about.

Call Me is probably the best ballad they've ever written. The song has a lot of power and emotion to it, and it always reminds me that I've done too much moving around in my life and have never really settled down in one place for too long.

;)

Hey Amy -

That is so wild. I had no idea that was on your MySpace profile. Cool! :D

If you have the time (and inclination), can you post a list of some of your fave bands and singers? I'm just curious about how much our music tastes overlap, since you also mentioned liking Lush... :)

Sure! My taste in music is pretty all over the place, but I'll list a few bands I love:

My Bloody Valentine, The Sundays, The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Cocteau Twins, Elastica, Garbage, Primal Scream, This Mortal Coil, Portishead, The Stone Roses, Bjork (The Sugarcubes), Kate Bush, The Cure, The Charlatans UK, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Smiths, The Breeders, Chapter House, Veruca Salt, Republica, The 5, 6, 7, 8's, Mazzy Star

..... to name a few! How 'bout you?
