Future Movie Releases: Which Ones Will You Be Seeing?

Recommended Posts

I saw a couple of brief trailers for the new Star Trek. Being a fan of the Treks from waaaay back, I'm gettin' really excited to see this.

I love the car at the beginning of the trailer. That is wicked awesome!!

Another one that looks pretty good, based on the trailer that I saw during the Super Bowl, was Transformers 2.

It took me a while to see the first one, but I actually liked it more than I thought I would. And the second one doesn't look too bad.

MSN Movies has a first look at the new poster and photos from Universal Pictures' Public Enemies, starring Johnny Depp, Christian Bale, Marion Cotillard, Giovanni Ribisi, Billy Crudup, Stephen Dorff, Rory Cochrane, Stephen Lang, David Wenham, Stephen Graham, Channing Tatum and Jason Clarke.

Opening in theaters on July 1st, the Michael Mann-directed action-thriller is the story of legendary Depression-era outlaw John Dillinger (Depp)—the charismatic bank robber whose lightning raids made him the number one target of J. Edgar Hoover's fledgling FBI and its top agent, Melvin Purvis (Bale), and a folk hero to much of the downtrodden public.

Depp looks cool here, but going through the last batch I can't help but lament how much movie posters just suck these days. >sigh< :(

Well, at least it's not just a bunch of floating heads, so there's that.

Apologies to our brothers at Latino Review for not picking up on this sooner. It appears the folks who attended Wondercon over the weekend got a bevy of goodies, including this promo poster for Overture's Pandorum. Striking image, no? The teaser trailer is due this week. More details in our previous report here.

So James O Barr did this film? ;)

Are you being sarcastic (;)) Fred? If not . . .

No, O'Barr had nothing to do with it. The poster is referring to Crow co-screenwriter John Shirley (who shared screenwriting credit with my pal David J. Schow on The Crow), who is credited with Ligeia's screenplay, and Jeff Most, who co-produced The Crow films, and the soundtracks.

That's the studio way of trying to rope in some audience with half truths.

I say half truths because sure, Jeff Most co-produced The Crow films, but a large handful of others can say the same ;)

And Shirley, though a really good writer, was responsible for the first draft of The Crow, Schow's rewrite is what they shot.

So yeah, kind of a bending of the truth, especially when you consider that a lot of folks will read that and just assume it's referring to James O'Barr

The bastards . . . ;)

The trailer for Public Enemies is up. I can't wait for this, Michael Mann is one of the few directors that has yet to dissapoint me. The guy just knows how to make a film, plain and simple. The only thing I didn't care for was the music that starts the trailer. Way out of place. Other than that, this looks pretty damn good.

I've been looking foreward to this one since it was announced. Thanks for the link, it looks cool. I do like that song they play towards the end of the clip.

Here's one I had been looking foreward to as well...SEVERED WAYS...a story of the Norse discovery of North America, toss in some Irish monks and Native americans, well, there was some great potential...but the trailer is a total let down. Crazy colors and a very low budget look.

Here it is, fiends. A good look at Chris Nahon's adaptation of Blood: The Last Vampire, an adaptation of the Manga which has been long in the works.

In the player below you'll find a minute and a half trailer for Pathe's UK release (due in theaters June 12th).

Lots of footage of Gianna Jun as Saya, a half human/half vamp who's kickin' ass and takin' names. The preview spends much time focusing on an alley fight, there are a few glaring CGI beasties, too. Still, we're eager to check this one out!

I enjoyed the song too, and it's been bugging me since so I did some searching. It's called Ten Million Slave by Otis Taylor.

In an interview with GameSpot talking about the upcoming "The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena" game, Vin Diesel hinted at a third movie in the "Chronicles of Riddick" franchise.

"Maybe we're too tight-lipped about the next 'Chronicles of Riddick' film, and I think circa the release of [Dark Athena] that's probably when you'll start hearing more about the next 'Riddick' film," Diesel said. "It is underway and I almost think it's a coincidence that we haven't heard anything, that there hasn't been a lot of public stuff on the 'Riddick' movie.

Diesel added that David Twohy, who wrote and directed Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick, is finishing up the script.

"Assault on Dark Athena" hits stores on April 7th.

Well, Warner Bros. was scheduled to send out a hi-res look at the teaser poster for Orphan, but the Internet waits for no man (or publicist for that matter) as a large image has leaked out this afternoon. When a crisp version arrives, we'll update this spot. In the meantime, check out the trailer which premiered last week and expect the film in theaters on July 24th.

ShockTillYouDrop.com has received teaser artwork and a lengthy synopsis for a film currently in pre-production entitled Grimm. Early reports on the web have Russell Mulcahy (Resident Evil: Extinction) as the director, but as you can see in the art below, it's Bruce Willis who is apparently the big name attached. We'll dig further, in the meantime read on...

Marburg, Massachusetts, USA - Teenager Katie O'Sullivan goes to a new babysitting job. Instead of a regular family, she encounters ghostly twins Henry and Grace and a terrifying apparition that drags her off towards a sinister tower. She is never seen again.

Soon afterwards, Pat Quinn and his family move to the seemingly idyllic town, where he is the new Police Chief. His second wife Ella has two daughters from her first marriage and Quinn has a daughter, Megan, and son, John, from his. On their very first evening John encounters the strange twins, as well as a huge frog, which he brings back to the house. Quinn makes him take it back to the pond where he found it, but that night a wet, naked young man forces his way into the house and Megan's bedroom. He vanishes before Quinn sees him, leaving behind a slimy trail. From this moment on, Megan and John notice strange things and people in the town, but when they talk about them, nobody believes them. Only Professor Kurland, who approaches Quinn to show him pictures of Katie and two other teenagers who went missing at the same time, thinks they're telling the truth. He warns Quinn that bad things happen to youngsters in this town.

One day, Megan and her best friend Ruth go to visit Ruth's grandmother. A wolf-like creature attacks them, having already savaged the grandmother. Ruth is torn limb from limb and Megan barely escapes with her life. As mysterious and frightening happenings occur one after the other, Quinn starts to believe there may be sinister forces at work in Marburg, but will he discover who or what is behind it all in time to save his family?
