I think I'm going to have to watch The Outsiders and Red Dawn this week.

He was a great example of a gentleman, a craftsman, and an artist.

And by all accounts, a true professional.

You know, I always wanted to see Christopher Reeve's walk again.

I also wanted to see Patrick Swayze beat his cancer. After such a long struggle, I sincerely hope he's found peace.

That is just so sad. I think of all the celebrities who have died this year, this one makes me the saddest. Both he and Farrah Fawcett showed tremendous grace and courage in the darkest time of their lives, and should serve as an inspiration to us all to live each day to the fullest and to never give up hope. He has been a hearthrob of mine since my high school days when he appeared in The Outsiders. He always carried himself with such dignity and class and was the antithesis of all of the Hollywood stereotypes.

My favorite role of his will always beJohnny Castle in Dirty Dancing, but his performance in Ghost is also at the top of my list. Another one that I've always loved is Orry Main in North and South and North and South, Book II. And they may be cheesy, but two more of my faves of his are Next of Kin and Road House. And did you know that Road House played more than any other movie or tv show in the last year on all channels combined? It aired a few thousand on several different channels. May be cheesy, but it's a classic.

RIP, Patrick Swayze. You will be missed. A lot.

It blows. He hung in there a lot longer than I expected him too though. I was very fond of him.

Some of my thoughts concerning Swayze are posted in the Thank You Patrick Swayze thread.

This is heartbreaking, even though we knew it was coming.

You don't beat Pancreatic Cancer, no one does.

Somehow I thought if anyone had a chance it would be Swayze.

He lasted much longer than any Doctor ever thought he would.

He beat the odds in that sense.

A true role model, hero, and a thoroughly professional actor.

They've never made many like him.

Bless ya Patrick, you were one of the good ones. We'll miss you greatly.

Will always celebrate Swayze through the films and performances he left behind.
