Yes it's interesting thanks! Actually it's sharing the risk rather than no risk. At 90% success (which is great if it's true) there are still 10% failures. But the more the company produces and sells the more they can be trusted. I'd like to be a little mouse with large ears in LA sometimes!
  3. Thank you Geoff, this is interesting. This one is different from the one on Insta but from the same shoot. I prefer the other one: the necklace and t-shirt are less distracting and TJ is beaming even more energy. The picture is reworked in a different way I think since his eyes are incredible on Insta. Any chance to get the Insta one? In HD? Just asking...

Hi Anna Clara, welcome back ! I confess I didn't understand your sentence. What do you mean by withdrawal and IG hiatus? Best, Enaira
  5. Oh happy days... David was so truly awesome... glad to have them both on a picture together.

    Fedcon 2019

And now my last bit about FedCon... on Saturday I attended two parallel sessions in the smaller conf rooms. The first one was a retrospective of the Sci-Fi art during the 60's. It was a really well documented session, feeling as if we were in a time capsule. The room was full and the speaker was passionate, all in all a very atmospheric session. Here are some of the mentioned music and films: The Spotnicks: TV show "Mr. Terrific" https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mr._Terrific_(TV_series) and the german version of it with the somewhat really ridiculous name of "always when he swallowed pills" ... !! The opening video below is the german version, with rhymes! Then Barbarella was mentioned, of course. Each time he showed us several minutes of the videos, allowing to really sink in the 60's feeling And he finished the speech (he showed us much more than that but I didn't take notes with 2001: a space odyssee. The second session in the afternoon was a stand up comedian from UK named Steve Dix. I won't try to write down his jokes here, this is hopeless on my side. His show was good! nicely done and always with Sci-Fi and fan humor as a continuous line. I only found a video of FedCon 2015 here: See you, Enaira

Well ... I would allow myself to add a bit more details about the chocolate stories if you don't mind. I was not attending the autograph sessions, so I can only add comments from what I heard, please correct if I'm wrong. The first autograph was Frankie if I remember well and she was nice but not especially over friendly (normal). You gave her the chocolate only after the autograph was signed and then she beamed with joy and you were able to have some small talk with her. Now strong with this experience, you decided to give first the chocolate to the others, and then ask for the autograph, which was a clever move: the actors were a lot more relaxed and ready to discuss a bit if they had received such a great present Now comes Cas: you had two types of chocolate to choose from and he couldn't decide... so Chris Sue told him he could have both cause she likes the pilot so much ... But Wes was sitting next to him and complained, playing around as if to steal the chocolate from him... Would that be the video? Nice to "see" you Al on Twitter with such a handsome and sympathetic guy at your side! I can just agree once more how great it was to spend the day with you two and that the chemistry was perfect from the first minute on. Hope to meet with you again and some other RAW members. And you know what is the best part of the "chocolate story"? I also received a chocolate present from Switzerland Thank you so much RAW friends! It was a real surprise and I could feel like I'm one of the cast of the Expanse !

I loved that ride! So goood looking!! By the way, changing the "brown goo" into blue sparks was genius.
  9. Wow Gail, cool holiday you're having there! Sounds like fun. In my imagination I am not even trying to defeat the clichés, so I see you near a mangrove where it's hot, humid and fullllll of crocodiles! Enjoy How long are you staying?
  10. About this project, what does exactly mean "lay their hands on it"? Do you think Thomas will direct? He said in numerous interviews he wanted to direct again. And a western would be too difficult to finance... so is this the lucky alternative? In case he doesn't direct, but "just" act in it, what would be the benefit of buying the rights in comparison to being a regular producer? Maybe it's just too early to answer/speculate?
  11. Hey Gail and Geoff, thank you for the birthday wishes, it worked: I had a very good day I hope you whole RAW bunch also did have a good time, see you around. Ariane.
  12. Now that I think of it... There's also the movie Lola that I would highly recommand. Pretty sure Chris Sue and Al would like it. It's a movie from the Philippines from 2009. As far as I know Lola means Grandmother. There are so many layers in this movie: the setting is a slum in Manila, so you get to discover the very simple life of the main characters. There's also the son in prison and the death of someone as the starting point of the movie, so a bit of crime. And there are the relations between the characters and the short term/long term implications of one's actions on her/his life and the one of others. Here also, my recommandation! See you around, Ariane
  13. Hello forum, our RAWunion at FedCon showed us that we share much more than a common appreciation of Thomas's work. We spent much time together, speaking about life, work, art and death. Here especially we have one movie in common that marked us and that we named simultaneously We'd like to share it here in case you haven't seen it. It's "Departures", from the year 2009. It treats with much tactfulness and even humor of a difficult topic: the loss of a family member or friends and the process of mourning, seen from an "external" point of view. In some way it reminded us of Six Feet Under, but in a movie format, so more depth in the description of the feelings. There is no self pity in this movie and the goal is not to make the audience cry. It takes place in Japan, meaning gorgeous images, purity of movements, great traditions and respect towards the deads. We loved it!

Well Gail, I'll leave the Veil entirely to you. Take good care of yourself, you never know what might happen.
  15. Thank you so much RAW friends! Yes my day is great so far: the school of my oldest son is closed today so I have no other possibilities than to have a day off work, enjoying biking and swimming with him. I feel terrible ... for the others ! Mwhahaha !

Oh la la. Here I admit I've reached my limits. I saw only the first half of the film. Second half I was buried under a cushion. TJ's great, especially the "DVD watching scene" where you can feel the tension raising and really read his mind. Feel his ambivalence. All with his eyes and hand. Great scene. Now I don't want to reveal too much. Just a question: does he have long hairs in Standoff and Before I wake due to upcoming shoot of the Expanse? Was Miller already in planning at that time? Good night!

Anthony Daniels has rocked the auditorium. As we say in Germany "he was the hammer" and "I was out of my socks" It was really clear that he has practized this excerice for a long time. Being on a stage, playing his role is his dream situation. At the same time, a certain improvisation was possible since he interacted with the fans and reacted accordingly. Respect. Basically it was a one hour monologue, he explained anecdots from the past 43 years and now and then he asked the fans a question or took a question. He started by thanking us because since 3 generations we are paying for his salary He explained that during one of the first scenes on Tatoïn, R2D2 would no stop at the end of the scene and rammed him twice in the legs coming from behind. The third time, Anthony moved aside and let R2D2 fall down the stairs... he played this on stage with a fan dressed as R2D2. He answered also to the question what was his favorite line. The most often spoken were "oh dear" and "we are doomed". But his favorite is explaining to Han that the Ewoks will have a banquet in C3PO's honor (they think he is a god) and eat him. He explained how he got the role: first meeting, he didn't care (he wanted to be a serious theater actor! Not play in an unknown SF kind of movie) but met G. Lucas and say the C3PO's drawings and fell in love. Second meeting he was really nervous then! He explained that G. Lucas cast several people for his voice before accepting/admitting, that his own voice was the best. He explained how he fell due to an uneven floor during the last take of ??? (the empire strikes back?). The C3PO costume was ruined. Fortunately, the general take was finished and they just had a close-up to make. So the decision was quickly taken to cut the costume in half and let him play with just the mask and the shoulder part on ! He was great. It was an honor to see/meet him. In the evening he went out and in of the lobby catching a taxi to have dinner downtown. Always grinning. I believe he really enjoys his life and meeting the fans.

    Standoff

But what about the bullet? Now I cannot sleep either what did we miss? How did you understand it?
  21. I was wondering right now if we have a rule about spoilers? My guess is, spoilers are allowed because we're here to discuss details, plots, incoherences or great moves. At the same time, I am grateful Tom did not reveal anything in the news. So I don't want to steal any surprises from anyone. Am I right?

    Standoff

Good evening forum, We just watched Standoff! *spoilers ahead* It was not at all what I expected! I was expecting a classic action movie I guess. I had only seen the DVD cover and TJ's "shooting diary" in the news section. I explicitly did not read this thread. I have to thank Tom for not telling too much. Actually not saying anything important about the plot, while making it enjoyable to read for his fans This movie surprised me with the theatrical setting and tension in the dialogues. Really liked it, except at some specific moments the music. A tod too sweet and syrupy. And we didn't get the point with that last bullet It is frustrating. If someone could explain? Was it a blank? If Carter had known it he would have acted differently. You notice first during the BTS extras, how cold it must have been during the shooting! Tom with just a loose t-shirt and the girl in a summer dress. It must have been difficult. I had to laugh internally because I had just seen today Tom's Q&A for DBS where some guy asked what's the best shooting sort? Not too wet? Not too cold? Not spending 3 weeks sitting at exactly the same spot in a staircase ? but yeah you know, it's kind of like working. You don't get to choose. Now my dear husband is completely stuck on the last song in the final credits. A UK singer apparently who was raised in Greece and Australia... it seems he's heard it somewhere in another movie and now will not be able to sleep the whole night... From my viewpoint, I honestly and respectfully "don't care" about this singer. I have spent 90 minutes watching TJ protect a little girl against great angry Fish and I am happy.
